Support Mastodon, the open-source social network
Think of Mastodon as an open-source alternative to Twitter.
With it, you can create your own servers or communities known as *instances*.
The flagship instance is mastodon.social, but others are cropping up.
https://mastodon.social has already seen 30,000 users register with 500 registering every hour as of now.
Buffer support would allow people a cross-platform presence that wouldn’t mean abandoning services like Twitter—unless they want to.

I can’t stress enough how important a feature that would be for Mastodon, which has seen tremendous growth in recent weeks.
– Send the same post to both Mastodon and Twitter. Let me know if text is too big for a tweet, break it up into multiple tweets.
– The tricky thing to get right for a Twitter/Mastodon combo-post would be the mentions. They could be looked up via the Mastodon bridge: https://mastodon-bridge.herokuapp.com/
Mastodon is an important use case for me o Buffer particularly because of its small size. As a heavy social media platform user, I don't want to invest much time into this platform until it grows. That being said, it would be helpful to leverage my existing social media posts onto this platform in the interim.

It's worth noting that this will also possibly provide general GNU social support, if that's interesting to the Buffer project. As I (limitedly) understand it, Mastodon uses some kind of open standard for posting?
